The bivalves collected in1978 by R. L. Detterman on Sutwik Island and in four different quadrangles on the Alaska Peninsula have been examined by D. L. Jones and J. W. Miller at Menlo Park, California and reported under shipment number A-80-6M. A few ammonites present in the same collections were then forwarded to me along with copies of their reports which contain complete locality description. The Shelikof Formation is represented at Mesozoic Loc. M7161 by the ammonite Pseudocadoceras. The Naknek Formation at most of the localities listed is represented by an abundance of the ammonite Phylloceras, by the presence of Partschiceras sp. B., by an ammonite that probably represents Subplanites, as well as by the bivalves Buchia mosquensis and B. rugosa. The Staniukovich Formation at Mesozoic Loc. M7165 is probably represented by the bivalve Buchia blanfordiana (Stoliczka) as identified by Dave Jones and Jack Miller. The ammonite present at Loc. M7165 is poorly preserved, bears ribbing similar to that on Partschiceras sp. B. at Loc. M7146 in the Naknek Formation, and is of little age value. |
