Comment:A sample of limestone, FET 1642 from Lat. 60o 40' N., Long. 156o 44.5' W., Coords: 19.26, 16.07, was crushed in order to extract ostracodes. Several minute, poorly preserved ostracodes were obtained that have a post Paleozoic aspect. One specimen belongs to the marine genus Cytherelloidea whose recorded range is Jurassic or Cretaceous in age, and it would not surprise me if this formation winds up in the Lower Cretaceous.

An interesting sidelight is that current research on Cytherelloidea suggest that the lowest temperature of the water at the time when the beasts of FET 1642 lived was probably 55o F.
