Title: Report on Referred Fossils ,  1982 (12/29)
This report treats all six collections originally listed on your request form dated 8/2/82, including the lost collection 82ABe601-B that was resubmitted with your request dated 8/9/82 as collection 82ATr12-B-1.
Report by: Norman J. Silberling
Referred by: William P. Brosge
Age: Carnian (late Carnian)
Comment:This is the first known occurrence of the distinctive ammonite SYMPOLYCYCLUS KELLYI from Alaska. Previously it has been reported as far north as the Pardonet Formation in northeastern British Columbia.

This collection is late Karnian in age, and it probably represents the Welleri Zone of middle Late Karnian age. As such, these rocks could represent a limey phase of the so-called chert member of the Otuk rather than the Shublik Formation.
