Report by: J. Thomas Dutro , Jr.
Referred by: William P. Brosge
Age: Cambrian
Comment:In addition to the trilobites reported by Palmer, there are a great number of abraded valves of primitive orthoid brachiopods. A few of these show the ornament and shape of Billingsella, a common Late Cambrian genus although its range is Middle Cambrian to Early Ordovician. The age based on trilobites is more definitive.

Title: Report on Referred Fossils ,  1970 (10/22)
This report concerns two collections from Alaska submitted by Brosge and Reiser.
Report by: A. R. Palmer
Referred by: William P. Brosge , H. N. Reiser
Age: Franconian (most probably middle Franconian)
Comment:This collection is certainly Late Cambrian and most probably middle Franconian in age. It contains three trilobites. The commonest, and least certain, is a ptychoparioid with a well defined, poorly furrowed glabella, anteriorly placed palpebral lobes, a very poorly defined border furrow and a pointed anterior margin. The structure of the frontal area is suggestive of Angelina but the eyes are a bit too large and not as far forward. The overall form is more like a relative of Taenicephalus. The eye position and structure of the frontal area, and the general glabellar shape and character of the furrow are consistent with such a position. I don’t find any comfortable genus to which to assign it.

The most definitive form is an agnostid, represented by a cephalon and a pygidium. This is a good species of Geragnostus with a relatively short axis on the pygidium, which places it no older than middle Franconian.

The third form, represented by single incomplete specimen has small, slightly anterior palpebral lobes close to the glabella; a relatively short, well differentiated frontal area, an occipital spine, and an unfurrowed, anteriorly tapered glabella. This is most like species of Saratogia and is assigned to this middle Franconian genus without much trepidation. Thus, all trilobites are consistent with a position of probable mid-Fraconian age. It is definitely a fauna with American affinities.
