Age: Early Miocene-Middle Miocene
Formation: Topsy Formtion
Comment:LUCINOMA ACUTILINEATA ranges from mid-Oligocene to Newportian (middle Miocene) in age, and the BERINGIUS species ranges from somewhere in the Miocene to Holocene. If the BERINGIUS were better preserved and could be identified more confidently, it wouold limit the age of this collection to early to middle Miocene. Both the BERINGIUS and ?COLUS species are new to the Topsy Formation fauna. The LUCINOMA was included in my E&R to you on 12/11/75, from locality 75-APr-43D (M6527) in the Topsy Formation.

The LUCINOMA species has a living analogue that lives today from Alaska to Baja California, usually in shelf environments. Articulation of the valves in the present collection suggests little or no post-mortem transport by waves or currents.
