Comment: | The collection contains two entities: Metadquoia sp. and Alnus sp. Alnus first appears in the latest Paleocene as a megafossil (e.g., in the Chickaloon Fm.) and is, of course, still living in Alaska. Metasequoia is known in Alaska in Late Cretaceous through middle Miocene rocks; your specimens, however, are more similar to the Oligocene and Miocene specimens of the genus than to the pre-Oligocene specimens. |
