Comment: | I have frequently advocated the point that one cannot be totally certain in distinguishing some microscopic worm tubes from mollusk shells. Having said that, I believe that this is the phosphatized steinkern of a bellerophontiform gastropod. Its maximum age range would be Late Cambrian through Early Triassic. My best guess is post-Ordovician Paleozoic through early Triassic. |

Comment: | 2.1 kg of rock was processed for conodonts (1.4 kg of material remained undissolved after acid treatment): NO CONODONTS WERE RECOVERED--one phosphatized gastropod was recovered. This was given to Ellis Yochelson for determination. |
