Title: Report on Referred Fossils ,  1978 (02/27)
This report deals with 6 collections of megainvertebrates from the Bear Lake Formation of the Alaska Peninsula, southwestern Alaska. Some of the localities are newly discovered fossil beds.
Report by: Louie Marincovich , Jr.
Referred by: Robert L. Detterman
Age: No Data
Formation: Bear Lake Formation
Comment:Age: The present specimens are not quite good enough to identify with confidence, considering the large number of North Pacific Tertiary oysters (especially in Sakhaline and Kamchatka). These specimens appear to be the same species that MacNeil identified from the Stepovak Formation as OSTREA TIGILIANA Slodkewitsch, an Eo-Oligocene species of the eastern USSR; NacNeil's specimens were far worse than yours and his identification must be considered questionable.
